The dinner to honor library volunteers on May 22 was a big success, thanks to all of the volunteers who turned out and the people who made the dinner happen.
Following dinner, librarian Judith Isaacs presented each volunteer with certificate of appreciation and a Friends of the library pen or a special library bookmark. She also explained the important work volunteers do, from cataloging to keeping the library open additional hours, preparing books to be shelved and other jobs. Carol Meine and Christine Barton each received a $25 gift certificate from Barnes and Noble for their hard work at the library.
Thanks to the following for their contributions: Barbara and John Curran, Dagna Altheide, Mardi Holder, Rebecca Christman, Sara Winter, Morris Taylor, Carol Breen and Kathleen Wiegner. A special thanks to Elsie MacKinnon for use of the Laughing Lizard Cafe and to everyone who helped clean up afterwards.
The Friends also held a $2 a bag used book sale over the Memorial Day weekend. Because the Art in the Park was NOT in the park but on the Lebya land, the Friends had to do a bit of promotion to make sure people visiting knew that our “It’s a Deal! It’s a Steal!“ book sale was worth a trip to the book barn in Fitzgerald Park. It must have worked, because people kept showing up and hauling off bags of books.
Thanks to Morris Taylor, Sara Winter and Kathleen Wiegner for selling, and to Barbara Curran and Jim Forcier-Call for putting flyers under windshield windows.
