Vallecitos de los Indios/Sierra los Pinos

At the time of Spanish contact, this was the location of a large pueblo. The story is told that the priest that served the mission at Guisewa also ministered to the Indians here and rode a burro up Oak Canyon to Vallecitos on what is still called the Priest’s Trail.

A sawmill here made it an important part of the logging industry. Now a subdevelopment named Sierra los Pinos has obliterated most signs of the pueblo and the pioneer community.
